Why we built these tools

AI video and image production looks easy when you watch a 15-second showreel. The reality, once you sit down to ship a campaign, is that most of the work is upstream of the model.

That upstream work breaks into a handful of moves: writing a prompt that holds shape across iterations, matching the aspect ratio to the platform without re-rendering, pricing a deliverable so you don't lose money, and prepping the source images so they're light and correctly sized. Each of those moments is where the free tools on this page earn their keep.

We use these tools internally before any client work ships from the Playcut studio. We kept them free because the friction they remove should not be paywalled.

Every tool here is browser-only and signup-free. The inputs you type and the images you drop stay on your device — image work runs through the Canvas and WebCodecs APIs, and the heavier image-cleanup tools load their AI models into your browser and cache them locally after the first run.

The five tool categories

Prompt Builders turn a short brief into a model-tuned prompt scaffold. There's a builder for each major engine — Veo, Sora 2, Kling, Runway, Imagen, Midjourney, and Flux — plus helpers for camera movement and cinematic lighting. These are structured scaffolds and starting points, not a live model — you copy the output and paste it into the studio that runs the generation.

Calculators do the money and spec math with the formula shown on screen. The AI UGC Cost Calculator compares human creators against Playcut, and the AI Video Credit Calculator estimates credits per job. Paid-ads work is covered by the Ad Metrics Calculator and the Breakeven ROAS Calculator. Every result is date-stamped and shows its arithmetic, so you can check it.

Ad & Script Generators assemble hooks, scripts, and angles from proven frameworks. Start with the TikTok Hook Generator or the UGC Ad Script Generator, then plan a full week with the Content Calendar Generator. These are framework-driven scaffolds you edit, not auto-written final copy.

Image Tools handle the file prep that always slows a shoot down. The Background Remover and Image Upscaler run AI models in your browser, while the Image Compressor, Image Converter, and Image Resizer use the native Canvas API. None of them upload your files.

Video Tools plan the shoot before you spend a single credit. The Aspect Ratio Calculator and Safe Zone Checker keep faces and text out of the platform UI, the Storyboard Frame Counter and Video Script Timer budget your runtime, and the Video to GIF Converter exports a clip in-browser.

How these tools fit into a real workflow

A typical Playcut workflow chains a few of these tools. A creator opens the Color Palette Extractor with a brand moodboard to lock the visual register, then opens the Veo Prompt Builder and pastes those hex codes into the style slot.

From there they confirm the output dimension in the Aspect Ratio Calculator, prep any reference stills through the Image Compressor, and price the deliverable with the AI Video Rate Calculator before quoting a client. A few minutes of upstream work saves an hour of regeneration downstream.

Free tools FAQ

Do I need a Playcut account to use these tools?

No. Every tool on this page is fully open in your browser. There is no signup, no credit card, and no watermark on any output. A free Playcut account lets you save presets across devices, but the tool functionality itself is unrestricted.

Are the prompt and script generators powered by a live AI model?

No. The prompt builders, ad-script, and caption tools are deterministic, template-driven scaffolds. They assemble structured starting points from curated vocabulary and proven frameworks — they do not call a live language model. You copy the scaffold and paste it into whatever studio runs your generation.

Do you log my inputs or upload my images?

No. We use privacy-respecting traffic analytics only. The prompt text you type, the images you drop, and the numbers you enter all stay on your device. Image processing runs in-browser through the Canvas and WebCodecs APIs, and AI image models are downloaded to your browser and cached locally.

Why do the calculators show their formula?

Because a number you can't check is useless. Each calculator shows the arithmetic behind its result and a date stamp on its rate data, so you can verify the math and know how current the figures are. Pricing reflects Playcut v2 plans as of May 2026.

Will more tools be added?

Yes. We ship new free tools regularly based on what creators ask for most. If there's a builder, calculator, or utility you'd want next, write to contact@playcut.ai and tell us what would save you the most time.
