Data Deletion
Last updated: May 7, 2026
You have the right to request deletion of your Playcut account and all associated personal data. This page describes how to do that.
What Gets Deleted
- Your account profile (name, email, profile photo)
- All workspaces you own (including folders, brand kits, AI actors)
- All generations, prompts, and reference inputs
- Billing history (subject to legal retention requirements)
- Usage logs tied to your account
What May Be Retained
- Anonymized aggregate analytics
- Records required by law (tax, billing) for the legally required retention period
- Backups for up to 30 days, after which they are overwritten
How to Request Deletion
Option 1 — In the App
Sign in at app.playcut.ai, go to Settings → Account → Delete Account. Confirm with your email. Deletion is processed within 7 days.
Option 2 — Email Request
Email contact@playcut.ai from the email address associated with your Playcut account. Include "Data Deletion Request" in the subject line.
Timeline
We process valid deletion requests within 30 days, typically within 7. Confirmation will be sent to the email address on file.
Workspace Members
If you're a member (not owner) of a shared workspace, deleting your account removes your membership but does not delete the workspace. The owner retains the workspace, its brand kits, its AI actors, and all generations created in it. Any content you personally generated inside a workspace you don't own is treated as workspace property under the team's plan agreement — workspace owners can request that specific content be removed via the same deletion process if they own the account. Contact the workspace owner if you need shared content removed.
Custom AI Actors and Voice Clones
Custom AI actors and cloned voices are first-class deletable objects. When you delete a custom actor or a cloned voice, we remove the trained weights, the reference photos and audio you uploaded, and the prompt-history association between the actor and your account. Any previously-rendered output that used the actor remains rendered (we don't retroactively delete shipped video files), but the underlying actor cannot be used to generate new content after deletion. Cloned voices follow the same lifecycle — the voice model and the source audio you uploaded are deleted; previously-generated audio files remain.
What Happens to Generations You've Downloaded
Files you've downloaded from Playcut are yours under our commercial-use license and remain yours after account deletion. We cannot retrieve, recall, or delete files that have already left our infrastructure. If you're shipping outputs to a client and you later request account deletion, the client retains usage rights to anything already delivered. The deletion request affects only what lives on our servers.
Right to Access Before Deletion
You have the right to receive an export of your data before requesting deletion. The export includes: account metadata, workspace structure, the full set of prompts you've submitted, references to all generated assets (with downloadable URLs valid for 30 days), and the billing history. To request an export, email contact@playcut.ai from the account email with "Data Export Request" in the subject line. Exports are delivered within 7 business days as a JSON archive plus a manifest of downloadable media URLs.
Backups and Final Removal
After the user-facing deletion is complete, your data persists in our encrypted backups for up to 30 days before being overwritten in the normal backup rotation cycle. We do not access these backups to retrieve deleted user data; they exist solely for disaster recovery. Within 30 days, every trace of the deleted account is overwritten and unrecoverable. We do not retain "shadow records" or anonymized duplicates beyond the aggregate analytics noted earlier.
Disputed Deletion Requests
If a deletion request cannot be honored — for example, because the requester cannot prove account ownership, or because a workspace administrator disputes the request — we will notify the requester within 5 business days with the reason and the path to resolution. Where the law requires us to honor a deletion request despite a dispute (for example, under GDPR Article 17 or CCPA §1798.105), we honor the request and notify the disputing party.
